I guess I will rate "success" based on three criteria:
- Did I resist the temptation to eat WHATEVER my body CRAVES (like I was told by medical professionals to do) no matter how sick I feel?
- Did I at least move my body in some way as "some form of exercise" no matter how sick I feel?
- And MOST IMPORTANTLY, did I make a move in the right direction to improve my spiritual health (read the Bible, pray to - talk with - the God of the Bible through the name of Jesus, grow in intimacy with the Holy Spirit, worship Him, etc)?
Using this rating system seems like a good way for me to be INTENTIONAL about proving that God's power is REAL in this area of my life (see the post, Is that Power Real?)
God is good...even in the situation that I am reaping the horrible consequences of some really bad advice that led me down a very discouraging and difficult path. I don't blame the medical professional in the hospital that gave me that advice or the other medical professionals that agreed with that hospital worker. I blame MYSELF. I lacked the wisdom to reject that unhealthy advice and, later on, the self-control to change direction and get off the destructive path I was on. But, God is more than able to work all things out for good (see Romans 8:28), and this journey of weight loss will show us that. I believe with all my heart that my journey will open up my eyes to His love and help for those of us who struggle and need Him. He will show Himself to us if we look for - and look to - HIM! Yes, we will see that His power is real, but we will ALSO see HIM!
And seeing HIM is the ultimate goal...
and the ultimate "success!"
Where do YOU need to see that God's power is real in YOUR life? In what area of your life do you need to see HIM? Let's all look for HIM! Oh, He loves us! (see John 3:16)
